"Broken Time"
It was published February 2008. In addition to the title poem, it features 43 other works, including "The Gospel of the Dirt," first published in the internationally acclaimed "New Letters" magazine, and "Winter Garden," which will appear in prestigious "Pleiades." The book is divided into two sections, Music and Lyrics. The first half explores the work of artists such as blues master Blind Willie Johnson, classical composer Charles Ives and film maestro Bernard Herrman ("Gort"). The second half focuses more on nature, as in "Owls of North America," "Farmers" and "Stranded." Memory, too, both accurate and flawed, is a theme, in poems like "Remembrance" and "In Retrospect"
"Night Watch"
It'is a chapbook published in 2005. It features 31 poems, including the award-winning "Just One Ghost" (anthologized in Helicon Nine's "Chance of a Ghost"), "Killing Rabbits" and "I Sing the Body Acoustic." In his review of the book, "Mustasches" author G.W. Clift wrote, "In part because the language of the poems is our language, the poems read quickly, and one is tempted to race on without considering the sophisticated observations being made in simple words."
I'm selling two versions of each book:
1. "Broken Time" standard edition.
I'll sign at your request. Cover by Neil Nakahodo, and it's terrific, as you can see. Price: $10.
2. "Broken Time: Publication Date Special Edition."
UPDATE, 3/16/08: THIS EDITION NO LONGER AVAILABLE -- ALL COPIES SOLD. Identical to the standard edition except that when I received my copies Feb. 1, 2008, I designated 20 for this edition and signed, dated and numbered them that evening. I'll inscribe to you. NO MORE COPIES will ever be made. Price: $15.
3. "Night Watch" standard edition.
List price for my first book is $10 but I'm selling it for $8 for a limited time. I'll sign at your request.
4. "Night Watch: The Skeletons Special Edition."
While pleased with this book, one poem has haunted me: "Skeletons." This edition features my handwritten revision, plus a title-page stamp created by Neil Nakahodo. Each of the 50 copies is numbered and signed by Neil and me. There will never be any more copies of this edition. I'll personalize copies ordered through this site, which I'm not doing or anyone else. Sale price -- limited time only! -- is $13. Update, 4/13/08: 29 copies remain.
